      Content: In 1968, at the age of 23 drafted into the US Army and having just graduated from the Army’s Surreptitious Intelligence Photography School, I found myself ordered to Europe as a Special Agent. I was assigned to follow enemy agents with spy cameras though airports, train and bus stations, and the streets, filming their every move. My experiences then, as my explorations now, kept the excitement of discovery alive through a life of looking through a camera lens. After the Army I had the opportunity to be a press photographer working with “underground” news papers and national magazines documenting social and political events of the tumultuous 1970’s and the unfolding AIDS crisis in the 1980’s. In 1991, I opened my own studio in Seattle, Washington. Seattle was just beginning its love affair with speciality coffee and I grasped the opportunity to create a artistic niche in the growing, processing, and marketing of coffee in all its forms. Fortunately for me, coffee plants are grown in some of the most exotic and beautiful regions in the world. While on assignment to photograph equatorial growing environments I became fascinated with tropical and sub-tropical flora. I followed my vision and composed images relating to the color and geometry of flower, leaf, and plant. This became my central focus, and lead me to establish myself in Honolulu where I was surrounded by exotic bounty. Returning to Seattle in 2000, I established a boutique Stock Photography E-commerce web presence which held the majority of my accumulated images. Along with my botanical focus I ventured into food photography relying on skills honed with techniques used in available light botanical photography. Today, I find myself with my life-partner, recently relocated to Sacramento, establishing a new photographic vision with the same curiosity and sense of adventure born many years before.
